Bershka Mom Jeans Review

2

Mom jeans have returned after their original low-waist style from the ’80s that flattened asses and swallowed belly buttons earned them their initial lousy rep. Today’s versions still emphasize curves with high-rise styles designed to accentuate curves while remaining comfortable for everyday wear.

Stylists love Bershka ones for their form-fitting stretch and vintage aesthetic. Strategist editorial coordinator Kelsie Schrader loves wearing her pair, nicknamed Cynthias by herself, so much that she bike commutes wearing them!

Fit

Bershka mom jeans (and those from sister brands Zara and Pull & Bear) tend to run small. If you are usually a size small in other high-street denim brands, consider ordering up when trying on Bershka jeans, as even their oversized styles often fit more like skinny or straight fits than relaxed shapes.

Mom jeans may have earned themselves a bad rep in the early aughts due to their low-waisted trendiness; however, today, they’ve found new fans among tweens and stylists alike. Their high rise and straight cut are preferred by stylists and teens alike; their curve-hugging features allow them to flatter legs and waist more than skinnies without gapping at the waistline as other high-waisted styles do.

Strategist editorial coordinator Kelsie Schrader, a five-foot-two millennial, found Bershka Genuine mom jeans in a stone wash that “resembled vintage denim I hoped to find at an estate sale.” Additionally, these were comfortable yet sturdy pants, not too long on her frame, tight through the thighs, or loose around the waist.

Fabric

Once considered a disgraceful design of denim, high-waisted, straight-leg jeans have now been entirely accepted as staples of fashion. Stylists rave that these straight-leg jeans are flattering, sculpting, and confidence-boosting compared to low-waisted mom jeans that used to swallow belly buttons at the turn of the millennium; today’s version offers more stretch and lighter wash treatments for an enhanced sculpting cut that flatters each body type.

Bershka offers its “Join Life” collection as a sustainable choice, employing fabrics like Tencel lyocell, modal, and acetate from recycled resources to reduce water impact while working toward zero discharge of harmful chemicals by 2025.

Bershka offers women’s sizes 000-24 and men’s sizes 0-11 for both sizes. Their denim is produced using eco-friendly and more sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, recycled polyester, and Tencel lyocell modal acetate, which are more eco-friendly and sustainable. Bershka doesn’t use exotic animal skins such as hair fur or down feathers that could harm animal welfare and the environment. Instead, it partners with non-profit organizations to collect and recycle unwanted clothing and footwear.

Washing

Bershka clothing, owned by the same parent company as Zara, Pull & Bear, and Stradivarius brands, tend to run relatively small; however, their jeans and cargos are intentionally roomier due to design. Each roll of denim fabric undergoes tests for dimensional stability, shrinkage percentage, and allowance built into its cutting patterns so you don’t encounter any unpleasant surprises when washing! Their clothes come with clear washing instructions on their tags for ease of care.

Overall

Bershka clothing typically runs relatively tiny compared to other high-street brands, for instance, Zara or Pull & Bear. As such, if you wear size small in either of those companies, it would be advised to size up with Bershka jeans (even their oversized designs) to get an optimal fit.

However, once you find your size, jeans are comfortable and flattering. Strategist senior writer Liza Corsillo of Strategist noted they made her feel like Geena Davis from Thelma & Louise! Other readers noted they made leggier frames feel confident without looking too long in the legs. The stretch makes these comfortable to wear and give them that vintage mom-jean look; stylist Samantha Brown and Sahra Brandt recommend these to their clients, noting the slim leg cut looks flattering on almost everyone and can accommodate different waist-hip ratios without issue; additionally, these jeans come in various washes from classic monochrome shades to eye-catching pastel hues!
